Karachi to experience strong winds

Karachi’s weather is expected to remain dry and cool during the next 24 hours, with light fog forecast on Wednesday morning.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) recorded a minimum temperature of 12.5°C on Tuesday and expects the mercury to fall between 11 and 13°C in the next 24 hours.

Winds are expected from the northeast and the humidity level is 52%. A cold wave is expected to affect Karachi and other parts of Sindh from January 24, with temperatures potentially reaching single digits by the end of the month.

The cold westerly wind can bring precipitation across the country and snowfall at higher altitudes.

On Sunday morning, the minimum temperature in Karachi was recorded at 10.2°C, showing a decrease of 4.3°C from the previous day.

Meanwhile, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country during the next 12 hours.

However, rain with snow over the hills is likely in northwest Balochistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the next 12 hours.

Light to moderate fog at patches is likely to continue in most districts of Punjab and upper Sindh during morning/night hours.

The temperature in major cities recorded this morning:

Islamabad, Peshawar and Muzafarabad 6°C, Lahore 13°C, Karachi 14°C, Quetta and Murree 3°C and Gilgit 2°C.

According to the weather forecast for Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, partly cloudy and cold weather is expected in Srinagar, Jammu, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian and Baramula, while cloudy weather with chances of light rain and snow in Leh.
