In order to tackle Karachi’s deteriorating traffic congestion in front of Eidul Fitr, Karachi -traffic police have introduced a new traffic plan aimed at managing overcrowding in key markets.

The new measures prohibit taxis and rickshaws, including on-call services, from entering certain areas already facing heavy traffic.

The limitations apply to more busy places such as Teen Talwar, Tariq Road and Hyderi Market. Commuters are encouraged to use alternative routes such as Clifton Bridge, Race Course and Khaliq Uz Zaman Road.

Furthermore, vehicles will be limited on roads connecting Saddar, Fawara Chowk, GPO, singer Chowk, Zaibunnisa Street and Jama cloth to Eidgah Chowk.

In addition, traffic coming from the millennium will be redirected through the Millennium Bridge towards NIPA, while commercial vehicles will be redirected against shipowners College and Landi Kotal Chowrangi.

The new traffic directives are part of a greater effort by the traffic police to control the expected increase in shoppers and vehicles prior to the holidays.

On the other hand, Eidul Fitr 2025 in Pakistan is expected to be celebrated on March 31, with many expecting a longer holiday period from March 29 to April 6.

Ramadan ends with Eidul Fitr, which is determined by the observation of Shawwal Crescent Moon. Ruet-E-Hilal Research Council predicts that the crescent will be visible on March 30, making Eid probably on March 31.

As Eid falls on Monday, experts expect a five-day official holiday from March 29 to April 2, which could extend to nine days if Thursday and Friday are also declared holidays.

However, the final dates depend on the official moonlight.
