Karachi: After Sunday’s heavy rainfall, who had officials on duty on urban floods, rolled dark clouds back over Karachi on Monday morning and delivered light showers across the coastal town, weather analysts said.
Drizzle was reported in several neighborhoods including Defense Housing Authority (DHA), Korangi Road, Shahrah-E-Faisal, Burns Road, Ma Jinnah Road, Qayyumabad, Mehmoodabad, Manzoor Colony and Baloch Colony.
University Road, Jamshed Road, Jehangir Road, Yaseenabad and Gulhan-e-Iqbal also light rain.
According to road experts, the dripping could last between 30 and 60 minutes. They added that if the system changes west, Karachi may receive heavier rainfall later in the day.
Elsewhere in Sindh, intermittent showers continued over Tharparkar, while Larkana and its adjacent areas were lurked by heavy rain.
Heavy rain also abused Khairpur and its outskirts with thunder and lightning, while raining over Kot Diji and Aror Hills flooded local storm drains and nullahs. Kashmore, meanwhile, saw lightweight showers turning the weather comfortably.
Heavy rainfall sourd several parts of Karachi on Sunday, with Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), warning that precipitation could trigger the city’s flood in the city’s low -lying areas.
Easy to heavy rain is reported in the Gullhan-E-Haded, Malir Stop, Rafa-e-Aam, Bahria Town and the surrounding areas near the M9 motorway.
According to Met Office, rain -bearing clouds are currently present over the eastern parts of megacity. “These clouds can spread further in the city,” it added.
“Unusual rainy weather” is expected in Sindh over the next 48 hours, warned Met Office.
It added that the “depression” over India’s southwestern Rajasthan and Gujarat has strengthened a “deep depression”.
The “deep depression” is likely to enter southeastern Sindh within the next 24 hours, Met Office said.
Under the influence of the weather system, heavy rain was expected in Tharparkar, Uarkot and other cities in Sindh until September 10.
Karachi is also expected to receive intermittently heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty wind during the period, it added.
