Sindh Local Minister of Government Saeed Ghani repeated on Sunday that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is not limited to rural constitutions, but represents all major cities in Sindh. He spoke at the inauguration ceremony for Malir Union Football Stadium.

He said that development schemes worth billions of rupees were executed over Karachi and the province and expressed hope that they would be completed within the current financial year.

Ghani also inaugurated two other projects, including a social center built by TMC Malir. He said these facilities had been set up for residents’ convenience and would run effectively. Several similar schemes in Karachi districts were also expected to be completed soon, he added.

Members of the Sindh assembly Raja Razzaq and Saleem Baloch, Malir Town President Jan Mohammad Baloch, Ibrahim Hyderi City Chairman Nazir Bhutto, Imdad Jokhio and other elected representatives, local PPP leaders and residents attended the ceremony.

Ghani, who highlighted PPP’s historic presence in Malir, said the area had produced prominent party leaders and that PPP had always defended local interests. The party had won the highest number of seats in District Malir during election, he noted.

He called Shahrah-E-Bhutto one of the city’s best development schemes, which benefits four districts at the same time as his final phase up to Kathore to end by December.

With reference to the K-IV project, he said it was delayed due to deficiencies in the initial design that lacked key pumping and power plants. He added that the work was disturbed during IMRAN KHAN’s term of office over accusations of corruption based on cost escalation.

Now, with PML-N with power, the work was resumed under WAPDA, with RS 70 billion awarded to Karachi’s internal water supply. He hoped the project would have ended on time.

Ghani also announced that water supply from Hub Canal would resume on August 14 and that Sindh had requested an increased quota from Hub Dam.

He rejected criticism that PPP only worked in his fortresses, he said the party had spent billions on infrastructure, even in areas where it had not won a single councilor’s seat.

He called PPP the greatest urban political strength in Sindh and noted that it had won local government elections in Karachi, Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Mirpurkhas and Larkana, with all Sindh mayors now from PPP.

He said that ongoing water and sewer projects progressed quickly and would be completed in the coming months.

On Independence Day preparations, Ghani said the nation celebrated it as a “victory day.” He praised the armed forces and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for diplomatic efforts that counteracted Indian wrong information. He urged citizens to actively participate in independence day programs.

In response to questions, he said that working on the Quaidabad bridge would soon be completed, which ease the commuter movement.

He confirmed PPP’s obligation to Sindh’s development and paid tribute to both military results and Bilawal’s diplomatic gains.
