General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff of the Staff Committee (CJCSC), has called for the urgent solution of Kashmir -blanket and warns that continued tension with India is threatening regional peace and security.
General Mirza made the comments while representing Pakistan in the 22nd Shangri-La dialog 2025 in Singapore, an important Asian security meeting.
“The dissolution of Kashmir -Tvisten in accordance with the UN Security Council’s resolutions is important for lasting peace in South Asia,” said General Mirza, describing the conflict as the “root cause” of sustained hostility between Islamabad and New Delhi.

He emphasized the need for active and effective dialogues – gnawing, regional and global – to prevent conflicts rather than responding to them after escalation.
Mirza also criticized India’s recent actions regarding water flow management and accused New Delhi of trying to weapon shared water resources.
“India’s use of water as a weapon of war is a clear violation of international law,” he said. “Any attempt to block or divert Pakistan’s waters will be considered an act of war in accordance with the Pakistani National Security Committee’s policy.”
General Mirza confirmed that Pakistan is open to sustainable peace with India, but such peace must be based on dignity, equality and mutual respect.
He also expressed concern about the absence of reliable crisis management structures, noting that the lack of acting early often prevents the international community from intervening before tension spiral.

“The situation since the Pahagam incident is at risk of regional development. We need mutual restraint, recognition of red lines and equilibrium to ensure durable peace,” he said.
Mirza urged the world powers to help restore a formal dialogue mechanism between Pakistan and India and warned that the current vacuum is increasing the risk of incorrect calculation and escalation.
Pakistan’s participation in the Shangri-LA dialog at a time of increased friction with India and growing concerns about resource and territorial disputes in South Asia.
The country used the platform to repeat its many years of attitude towards Kashmir and to advocate for stronger diplomatic channels to tackle unresolved conflicts.
Earlier, head of the Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir said that Pakistan would never accept Indian hegemony in South Asia and expressed firm opposition to New Delhi’s regional attitude and continuous disputes.
In comments shared by the military’s media wing, the ISPR communicated, the head of the Army Staff a strong sense of decision on what he described as India’s attempt to assert dominance. He repeated Pakistan’s unwavering attitude towards Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and raised concerns about India’s approach to cross -border water sharing.
Last month, after four days of intense clashes between India and Pakistan, US President Donald Trump went to social media to announce that both countries agreed on a “full and immediate ceasefire”, broken by the United States. He also offered to disseminate a solution to the long-standing Kashmir dispute.

Trump said, “I want to work with both of you to see if a solution can be reached for Kashmir after a thousand years.”
Pakistan welcomed President Trump’s mediation offer. In a statement, spokesman for the Foreign Office Shafqat Ali Khan said that Islamabad appreciated Trump’s support for peace and reiterated that any solution must comply with the UN Security Council’s decisions.
The Foreign Office emphasized that Kashmir -Tvisten remains central to regional stability and has broader consequences for global security.
