Prince, Princess of Wales offers condolences to Canadian victims after tragedy

The Prince and Princess of Wales shared their deepest condolences following the tragedy that struck the Canadian public and cost them the loss of nine lives.

Prince William and Princess Catherine issued a statement via Instagram on Wednesday, February 11, which began: “We stand with all Canadians following this morning’s appalling tragedy.”

The royal couple continued: “Our hearts go out to the entire Tumbler Ridge community and we extend our deepest sympathies to the families and friends affected by this devastating loss.”

The shooting incident at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia resulted in the loss of nine lives and several injuries, but the situation was prevented from worsening due to the courage shown by the immediate responders.

The future king and queen also praised the brave responders, writing: “We are so grateful for the courage shown by the students, staff and emergency workers who acted selflessly in the face of such violence. W & C.”

While the investigation is still ongoing, police found the gunman dead at the scene after emergency personnel arrived within two minutes of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police receiving the reports of an active shooter attacking the school.

For now, the high school and an adjacent elementary school building are kept under lockdown.

This comes after King Charles shared a statement expressing similar sentiments for the victims and praising the brave survivors.
