Kate Winslet has made a surprising statement about the fame she received after playing James Cameron’s lead role Titanic.
The 50-year-old rose to fame alongside Leonardo DiCaprio for playing Rose and Jack in the 1997 classic.
However, fame proved rather daunting as Kate admitted that she was consistently followed by paparazzi.
Even her phone was tapped and people used to search through her trash for “what diet I was on or not on.”
She said in an interview: “It was horrible. There were people tapping my phone. They were just everywhere. And I was just alone. I was afraid to go to bed.”
During a chat on BBC Radio 4’s Island Discs, The holiday actress revealed it after Titanicshe used to often see herself on the cover of magazines and newspapers, which was accompanied by what she explained as “terrible and insulting names.”
Kate opened up that she coped with all the negative and horrible media attention with “a good meal, a shared conversation, a good cup of coffee, a bit of Radiohead and a good poo.”
In terms of work, Winslet has just made her directorial debut with a film goodbye Junewritten by his son Joe Anders.
