Two of the world’s largest female boxers over time ended their trilogy on Friday night and it was a three-match sweeping.

Katie Taylor won her third win over Amanda Serrano in Madison Square Garden, the same place where their epic trilogy began over three years ago.

The first few matches had controversial scorecards – the first was a shared decision for Taylor, and the second, despite Taylor being drawn a point and landing 107 fewer strokes, resulting in a unanimous victory for Taylor.

This one was also very disputed, where a judge gave it a draw. But two others gave a 97-93 victory to Taylor, giving her the majority decision.

Taylor initially slipped away from saying that there was some extra pressure on Friday’s match considering the circumstances of the first two matches and did it again shortly after the victory. In the ring, however, she let go of a thunderous “come on” party, almost like saying that Serrano simply couldn’t beat her, and later admitted that it was “very satisfying.”

“There is always some pressure that goes into these matches. It’s normal to feel a little pressure, but I didn’t feel more pressure than previous matches,” Taylor said after match. “Every single fight I have been involved in, they are huge events. There is always a little relief when your hand is raised. Complete joy. All the hard work pays, all the victims you give, it is an overwhelming sport, so it is such a relief when your hand is lifted.”

There is not much left to say for Taylor anymore, and there is not much else for her to achieve – she has proven that she is the best of this generation, and perhaps throughout the years by defending her WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF Super light titles for a person who is easily in Women’s Boxing’s Mt. Rushmore.

Retirement is an option, but she is not ready to commit in some way.

“I don’t want to say I have anything left to prove,” Taylor said. “But I will lean back and relax and make a decision on whether I will fight again in the future.”

Taylor improved to 25-1 in his famous career, while Serrano is now 47-4-1 with three of these losses to Taylor.
