Kazakh FM arrives today

Islamabad:

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister at Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu will take on an official visit to Pakistan from September 8 to 9, said the Foreign Office on Sunday.

The visit comes as a precursor to the upcoming state visit of the Kazakh President of Pakistan in November 2025, which is expected to further elaborate on the bilateral ties.

According to FO, Mr. Nurtleu will be accompanied by a high -level delegation, including the Minister of Transport in Kazakhstan.

Meetings in the joint working groups on agriculture and information technology are also held on the sidelines on the trip.

During his stay in Islamabad, the Kazakh Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister holds a one-to-one meeting with his Pakistani colleague, Senator Ishaq Dar, followed by lectures at the delegation level.

He is also scheduled to urge the president and prime minister in Pakistan.

Discussions will focus on preparations for the presidential visit in November and cover the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation with emphasis on trade and investment, agriculture, education, cultural and tourism exchange, regional connection, logistics and collaboration on multilateral forums.

Pakistan and Kazakhstan enjoy long -term connections rooted in history, culture and religion, with both countries part of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

Islamabad sees Central Asia as a crucial partner for its vision of improved regional connection, especially under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which could give locked Kazakhstan access to ports in the Arabian Sea.

In recent years, both sides have worked to increase trade and people-to-people exchanges. Current trading volumes remain modest, but officials believe there is a significant untapped potential, especially in agriculture, energy and transit connection.

The involvement of Kazakhstan’s Minister of Transport in the Delegation indicates the focus on promoting logistics and connection initiatives.

FO expressed confidence that the visit would “further cement the long-time Pakistan-Kazakhstan bands and help to elaborate bilateral engagements in different areas in favor of the people of the two countries”.
