First state visit aims to strengthen ties in trade, connectivity and regional cooperation

The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, arrived at the Prime Minister’s House on Wednesday. He was warmly welcomed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on arrival, with a large group of soldiers present in a show of respect.

The Kazakh president arrived in Pakistan yesterday for a two-day visit. This is Tokayev’s first official state visit to Pakistan.
In the curtain raiser posted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was said that Tokayev’s visit will “give the two sides an important and timely opportunity to conduct a comprehensive review of bilateral relations, discuss new avenues to expand cooperation, especially in trade, logistics, regional relations, people-to-people contacts and international forums.”

Yesterday, the President arrived at Nur Khan Airbase where Shehbaz and President Asif Ali Zardari received him.
Tokayev was accompanied by a high-level delegation of senior ministers and other officials.
A six-man squadron of Pakistan Air Force fighter jets also paid a grand aerial salute to Tokayev upon his entry into Pakistani airspace yesterday.
