Kazakhstan’s President Tokayev visits Pakistan on 3-4 February

Will hold talks with President Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz; will address the Pakistan-Kazakhstan Business Forum

The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, will pay his first official state visit to Pakistan from February 3 to February 4 at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement on X: “During the visit, President Tokayev is expected to meet with the President of Pakistan, hold talks with the Prime Minister and address the Pakistan-Kazakhstan Business Forum.”

The president will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising senior ministers and other senior officials, the statement said.

“The visit will provide an important and timely opportunity for the two sides to conduct a comprehensive review of bilateral relations, discuss new opportunities to expand cooperation, especially in trade, logistics, regional connectivity, people-to-people contacts, and explore cooperation in regional and international forums.”

The statement said the visit reflects the strengthening ties between the two countries, their mutual commitment to transform historical and cultural affinities into robust cooperation and their shared desire for peace and progress in the region.

Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is also scheduled to visit Pakistan on February 5 and 6.

According to Uzbekistan UzA news agency, Mirziyoyev’s visit to Pakistan and the high-level talks in Islamabad will take place against the backdrop of an unprecedented intensification of bilateral political dialogue.

“The talks are aimed at the practical implementation of a key economic goal: to increase the volume of mutual trade to 2 billion dollars in the coming years. The central element on the agenda will be the structural transformation of economic cooperation,” the report said.

UzA also quoted the Uzbek Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade as saying that the Uzbekistan-Pakistan Business Forum and “Made in Uzbekistan” exhibition will take place in Islamabad on 5-6. February.
