KDA begins Riverbank Safety Work

Balakot:

In the event of increased water flow in the ongoing Monsun season, Kaghan Development Authority (KDA) has launched the efforts to eliminate dry spots in the middle of the Kun Har -River -areas where tourists often gather for photography and picnic.

Tourists have been asked to keep a safe distance from the river. During a visit to Naran, KDA issued Shabbir Khan’s further instructions to staff to ensure tourist security.

According to officials, patrol teams are working across vulnerable places in the Kaghan valley to encourage tourists to stay away from the river banks.

Due to rising water levels in the Kunhar -River, the Community River Rangers and Tourism Police have been deployed at several points to limit access to the river.

Technical teams have begun to remove available dry spots along the Naran-Jalkhad path to prevent tourists from using them.

These areas, although scenic, constitute serious security risks under the sudden river swelling caused by monsoon rain.

Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahab Ali Shah has instructed DG Shabbir Khan to monitor key spaces along the river. Patrol team has also been asked to inform visitors of the dangers designated by seasonal floods and to enforce safe behavior near the river.
