Kelly Clarkson gets candid about parenting regrets and mistakes.
In a recent chat with actress Mariska Hargitay on Wednesday, October 15, the singer and host opened up about her candid confession to her 11-year-old daughter River Rose.
“I’m constantly looking at my daughter and I’m like, ‘Look, I’m doing my best,'” Clarkson said. “I know you’ll end up in therapy one day. I don’t know what for, but I’m doing my best to limit it. Like, help.”
The beloved mother of two shared that the more the children mature with age, the more they understand their parents and the decisions they make.
“It’s also interesting. As we get older, you realize if maybe they weren’t good decisions for you,” Clarkson continued.
She added: “You understand them in a different light and you become a parent. You have a little bit more empathy than you might have had in your 20s.”
Clarkson shares nine-year-old son Remington and Rose with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, who died earlier in August from cancer.
A source told People after Blackstock’s death The Kelly Clarkson Show the host was “devastated” for his children.
“Kelly and Brandon had their ups and downs, but at the end of the day he was the father of her kids and she’s absolutely devastated for them. Her kids are her whole world and she stays strong for them,” the insider shared.
