Cruz congratulated Rockets for the deal in a post on X.

“Congratulations to #rockets! Losing Brooks really hurts – he’s fierce on defense – but KD is an absolute beast,” wrote cruz. “Great trade!”

Rumors of Suns-Handel Durant swirled for weeks after the team missed the playoffs with a 36-46 record in a season under Mike Budenholzer. Phoenix thought to add Durant to a team of Devin Booker, and later Bradley Beal could help lift them back to the NBA final.

Phoenix was unable to drive back to the NBA final, lost in the Western conference semi-final during the 2022-23 season, and was removed in the first round of the 2023-24 season and even failed to do the post-season this year.

Durant, 36, has still proved to be one of the best scorers in the game when it’s healthy. He average 26.6 points per Battle and shot 52.7% off the field. He has been an all-star every year he has been available to play since the 2009-10 season. He missed the entire season 2019-20 with an injury.

It’s been a busy season for Rockets so far.

Houston allegedly also expanded head coach Ime Udoka after his second place finish at the western conference.
