Rawalpindi:
Two large signal -free road infrastructure projects in Rawalpindi, worth over RS6.5 billion, have missed their deadlines for completion, which has caused significant disadvantages to residents. These include Nawaz Sharif Flyover at Khawaja Corporation Chowk on Adiala Road and Underings on Mall Road at KTM Chowk, Mall Plaza and Pedestrian Different at Medicine Market.
While flyover at Khawaja Corporation Chowk is completed, blankets and beautification will remain pending.
Punjab Minister Maryam Nawaz had set a deadline on May 31 for its end, but the project remains unfinished. This project alone costs RS2.3 billion.
Similarly, the RS4.38 billion subordinate and pedestrian project on Mall Road, originally set for completion of 45 days, will be incomplete, even after 100 days. As a result, access to key spaces, including hospitals, Mega Medicine Market, Pia, State Life and Cantonment Offices, have been disturbed.
Zahid Bakhtawari, President of Anjuman Shehriyan Rawalpindi, criticized the delay, Sayinag the situation has become unbearable for patients and businesses. Promises that were made to end the work in 45 days have not been met.
PML-N MNA from Cantt, Malik Abrar Ahmed, stated efforts are in progress to prevent further delays. He emphasized that the authorities in high -level meetings have been aimed at speeding up the work. If both projects have been completed within the next 15 days, a joint inauguration could be held, pending the chief minister’s schedule. While officials in C &W had previously confirmed the deadline on May 31, they are now unwilling to comment on the delay.
