A witness who had chosen a Miami football player’s alleged killer out of a set up several times was assumed dead.
Last month, journalists from ESPN Paul Conner, 81, found alive in his home in Louisville.
Conner lived on the same apartment complex as Bryan Pata, a Miami football stand out that were killed on November 7, 2006. He testified that he saw a man “jogging” after he heard a tall “pop” in the complex.

This man was Rashaun Jones, who has been in custody for four years and awaited trial for Pata’s killing.
Prosecutors told a judge in Florida as late as July that Conner was dead and stood on this belief from a public database that “seemed to indicate” Conner was not alive.
“Is there an impact on that on the matter? I have to say yes, potentially,” spokesman Ed Griffith told ESPN.

However, Conner told ESPN that he did not remember the incident or his previous statements and asked, “How long was this trial?”
Members of this year’s hurricanes have said that Pata and Jones did not come together, and Jones owned a gun that was similar to the weapon assumed to have been used to kill PATA, which was expected to be selected in the following year’s NFL draft.
