Khanpur dam country row intensifies

Haripur:

The land conflict near the Khanpur dam involving a public park escalated between Grunnejerers and Khanpur Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA), where women participate in the protesters on Thursday.

According to protesters, the case is currently being heard in an overall court and no official case could be allowed on the spot. After negotiations with the administration, the situation reassured.

Sources said tension was intensified when Khanpur TMA brought heavy machinery to the site to mark the country designated to the park. However, the country escalates Khanpur’s soil conflict, women joining protesters prevented TMA officials from doing any work. When the machines arrived, a large number of local women also gathered on site with men to protest.

Gruna owners claimed that they have received a residence order from the Abbottabad bench in Peshawar High Court (PHC), which prevents TMA from continuing. They claimed that even if TMA continues, it would be illegal.

In a speech with the media, TMA Khanpur’s Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO), Ayesha Tahira, said that if PHC has issued any residence order or injunctions to grunge owners, they should present it. She added that TMA has not yet received any official court decisions regarding this case.

Later, Haripur DSP ARIF Khan held negotiations with both TMA officials and the protesting parties and successfully persuaded both sides to agree to end the boundary of the country appointed to the park.

He also assured that if PHC or another litigation issues a residence order, TMA will comply with fully.

An agreement was finally reached amicably and averted what had become a very tense situation with the risk of confrontation.

Gruna owners claim that the district administration is acting unfairly by trying to include their ancestors and inhabited countries in the public park illegally.
