In the midst of swirling rumors of his resignation-as he has denied hard-defended Defense Minister Khawaja Asif with PML-N president Nawaz Sharif at his residence on Friday.
No statement was issued to the media about the content of their discussion. The Minister of Defense recently drew public attention after sending out the bureaucracy and accusing it of violent corruption.
In a post on Tuesday, Asif wrote on X, “More than half of the bureaucracy in our dear homeland has already acquired property in Portugal and is now preparing to secure citizenship”. “These are prominent bureaucrats who, after the subpoena of billions, now enjoy a relaxed, retired life,” he wrote.
In comments to politicians, Asif noticed that they “live off the remains and make noise, without owning grounds or holding foreign citizenship because they are bound by the need to compete elections”.
He also claimed that “the central number that facilitates the bureaucracy and other elites to get shelter in Portugal is Mr.

“These are well -known bureaucrats. Nevertheless, after consuming billions of rupees, they live comfortably a retired life. It is reported that Asif’s outbreak was triggered by the arrest of a further vice -commissioner (revenue) of sialkot on transplant tax fees. The said officer is reportedly close to him and his family.
After the controversy, the rumors emerged that Asif had offered his resignation – claims he has since denied. However, his encounter with Nawaz is seen at this critical time as an attempt to repair fences between the party and the federal minister.
The unusually strong public rebuilding of Asif, who is aimed at officials operating under the same political command, is interpreted as a sign of growing disagreement within the party. The effort to reach the Minister of Defense for Comment remained unsuccessful.
It is relevant to mention that although Punjab is controlled by PML-N, the central government has little influence in the province. The region is effectively monitored by the party’s de facto leader, Maryam Nawaz, who operates independently as his own authority.
