Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Thursday, Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) condemned to spread a “false tale” regarding the recent terrorist attack on Jaffar Express.
When he spoke in the National Assembly, Asif PTI’s social media platforms accused of representing the tragic incident and undermining national entity by promoting incorrect information.
Asif expressed grief over the loss of innocent life in the attack and criticized PTI for interpreting the situation. He specifically pointed out how PTI-affiliated social media accounts mistakenly claimed that the terrorists had released the hostages, rather than recognizing the victims made by the armed forces in the rescue operation.
He also accused PTI leaders who lived abroad for continuing to criticize national institutions while avoiding accountability.
The Minister of Defense referred to PTI’s leaders as products from previous military regimes and pointed out their support for martial arts and constitutional violations in the past.
Khawaja Asif admitted that his party had also supported a military regime in the past, but emphasized that they had the decency to recognize their past mistakes. He urged all political leaders to learn from historical shortcomings to move the country forward.
Asif condemned PTI’s attempt to politicize terrorism and national security and emphasized that politics should not come before Pakistan’s integrity.
He urged leaders to put personal interests aside and recognize the victims of the armed forces in the fight against terrorism.
The statement comes after security forces performed a two-day operation to neutralize the terrorists who had hijacked Jaffar Express.
The test began on Tuesday, when separatist militants adhered to Jaffar Express on the way from Quetta to Peshawar, the railway track jumped up and attacked the train with rockets.
