Following the Suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and a number of hostile measures after the deadly attack in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s (IIOJK) Pahagam area, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif on Wednesday announced that a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) will be held on Thursday under the Prime Minister of Prime Minister Sharif.

In a speech with a private news channel, Asif said, “The National Security Committee will decide an appropriate response to the Indian steps.” He claimed that India could not unilaterally suspend the treaty and noted that the World Bank is also an important stakeholder in the agreement.

“According to the treaty, India is unable to make such a decision alone,” Asif said, warning that Pakistan is fully able to respond to provocations demonstrated during the Abhinandan episode in 2019. “If India takes extreme steps under internal pressure, we are prepared,” he said.

He further rejected India’s claims of Pakistani involvement in the Pahagam incident and called them “inappropriate.”

When he spoke on another TV channel, Asif Pakistan’s consistent condemnation of terrorism repeated and said it has been one of the worst victims of the threat. “There should be no ambiguity that we strongly condemn terrorism,” he said, adding that the possibility of a false flag surgery could not be excluded.

Asif also accused India of sponsoring terrorist activities in Balochistan, having separatists and supporting Tehreek-E-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) through his consulates in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar Dary Asif’s feelings repeated and described India’s messages as “inappropriate and lack of seriousness” and promised an “appropriate reaction.” “NSC will issue an extensive response tomorrow,” Dar said of the same program, stressing that India had not provided any credible evidence connecting Pakistan to the attack.

Dar accused New Delhi of using Pakistan as a scapegoat for his internal failures. “To accuse others without evidence is unjustified,” he said.

In addition, Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) described Senator Irfan Siddiqui Pahalgam incident as a false flag operation allegedly “orchestrated by the Indian army.”

Siddiqui pointed out India’s pattern of staging such events in sensitive international moments. “India has heavily occupied Kashmir and continuously engaged in terrorist acts inside Pakistan,” he said, adding that Pakistani authorities had arrested Indian spies in the past.
