Prince Harry’s long -expected meeting with King Charles III has offset an online storm among royal viewers, with many framing of the meeting as a monarch sitting with his youngest son against heir to the throne Prince William.
The London meeting earlier this month was the first between Harry and his father of 18 months.
It followed Harry’s interview with the BBC earlier this year, expressing a desire for reconciliation with Charles and William.
Representatives of the monarch and the Duke of Sussex reportedly had private discussions in the months leading up to face to face.
William was not present at the meeting, which some royal supporters quickly dismissed as short and insignificant.
Others went ahead and accused Charles and Harry of having the conspiracy against the prince of Wales.
On social media, a popular account claimed that “Charles Meeting with Harry effectively throws William under the bus,” and noticed the Duke’s fast trip to Kiev afterwards to support wounded Ukrainian veterans.
Another commentator claimed that Royal Podcasts “pulling William” in the wake of the meeting.
The debate is coming as William is preparing to take on a prominent role with King Charles during US President Donald Trump’s state visit to Britain next week.
