King Charles Fires Canon, gifted patron fired against his coronation

King Charles fired a ceremonial cannon on Friday during a visit to the Royal Artillery Regiment in Salisbury, his first as Captain General.

The royal family releases photo, videos and details of the monarch’s visit to its social media accounts and official site.

A statement from Buckingham said, “The king has visited the Royal Artillery Regiment in Larkhill, who meets military staff and their families from the 21 regiments that form the Royal Regiment.”

It said, “His Majesty also heard about the regiment’s training and equipment – before he was invited to shoot an L118 light gun himself!”

“At his debut visit in the Royal Artillery, the king met Military staff from the 21 regiments that form the Royal Regiment to hear about their training and seen a selection of ‘find and strike’ equipment.”

“In officers Rod, the king met a number of soldiers and heard about Royal Artillery’s Institution and Heritage. His Majesty was shown artillery uniform by his ancestor King George V in the Regimental Museum.”

The statement said that the Royal Artillery Regiment was founded in 1716 and is believed to have earned in any conflict in which the British army has been involved.

To commemorate the king’s first visit as Captain General, the monarch was presented with an engraved 105 mm cartridge that was fired during his coronation as a gift from the Royal Regiment.
