King Charles bestowed new honors on Prince William and Kate Middleton amid reports that the monarch may be abdicating his throne sooner than expected.
According to Daily Mail, The Prince and Princess of Wales have been given a new royal authority as reports suggest the couple are preparing to take over the monarchy.
They revealed that William and Kate are expected to exercise a new royal power soon and give their first royal warrants to selected businesses.
The warrants, which are typically given to official suppliers of goods to the royal family, will allow recipients to display the royal coat of arms on packaging and advertising, the publication revealed.
It happens after a report by New Idea magazine revealed that Charles was seen looking distressed and worried during a conversation with Reverend Paul Williams at St Mary Magdalene Church in Norfolk.
A source told the magazine that the monarch, who was diagnosed with cancer last year and is still undergoing treatment, has sought advice from the pastor.
The appearance has fueled speculation that he is abdicating earlier than expected and Palace insiders have revealed that his team are preparing for a possible move.
“Charles’ aides have been taking his reign day by day for months now,” the source revealed. “He is determined to serve as long as he possibly can, but he is not a young man and obviously his cancer treatment is taking its toll.”
The source noted that there will “come a day, possibly soon, when he simply cannot go on,” adding that King Charles is “taking advice from his secretaries, his doctors and especially his religious instructors.”
