King Charles’ legal team receives an urgent request as the Andrew crisis deepens

King Charles’ legal team has received an urgent plea to contact the Epstein accuser’s lawyers over the Andrew allegations following the release of new material from the US Department of Justice relating to the late sex offender.

Legal representatives of a woman who claims Epstein sent her to Britain for a meeting with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor have urged King Charles to contact them directly.

Lawyers acting for the unnamed accuser, described as the second woman to make allegations against the former prince, said any evidence he may give would be “irrelevant”.

They argued that only a “sincere and genuine apology” from the monarch could allow the royal family to “maintain any level of credibility” with survivors of Epstein’s abuse.

Brad Edwards, a lawyer from the American firm Edwards Henderson, has previously told BBC that his client spent the night with Andrew after a tour of Buckingham Palace.

Andrew, 65, is referenced repeatedly in the newly released Epstein material.

The collection of documents contained images reported to show a man resembling the former prince crouched over an unidentified woman lying on the floor.

The 77-year-old monarch has already taken action against her brother, stripping Andrew of her royal titles following the posthumous publication of Virginia Giuffre’s book, in which she alleged Epstein and his former partner Ghislaine Maxwell had sex with her when she was 17.
