King Charles has made another historical decision for monarchy as part of cost -saving and modernization plans.
According to a report from AFPKing Charles has decided to end the British monarchy use of a royal train for the first time since the Victorian era of the 19th century.
The report says that as part of the royal family’s annual economy revealed late Monday, the King’s treasurer announced that he had approved the use of two helicopters to ferry the royal household and shut down the train due to high costs.
The process of terminating the nine-carriage trains begins next year, according to Monarch’s financial report.
James Chalmers, who, as a keeper of the private purse, is the king’s treasurer, described the move as an example of the royal household using “fiscal discipline”.
The king offered the “girlfriend of goodbye” to the train, which includes a wagon created specifically for him in the 1980s.
“Of course, the royal train has been part of national life for many decades, loved and cared for by everyone involved,” Chalmers said.
“Just as so many parts of the royal household work have been modernized and adapted to reflect the world of today, it is also time to bid the best of goodbye as we seek to be disciplined and forward in our allocation of funding,” he added.
