Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah visited SWAT to oversee the ongoing rescue operations following the tragic flash river in the Swat River.
The flood that took place near Mingora city pass resulted in more damage, leaving many trapped in the rising waters.
During the visit, the chief secretary announced a compensation of RS1.5 million per year. Victim of the deceased’s families.
He confirmed that 58 out of the 85 individuals stranded in the river had been successfully saved, while search operations are still underway to find others. So far, 11 bodies have been recovered.

Shahab Ali Shah also stated that several officials were suspended for negligence, including District Officer of Rescue 1122.
He emphasized that an investigation committee would investigate the incident and hold responsible for those responsible for the failure in response.
The main secretary explained that adverse weather conditions and time limits had prevented helicopters’ timely arrival in the initial stages of rescue efforts.
However, he confirmed that the government took crucial steps, including a ban on all forms of excavation in the SWAT River and a crash on illegal interventions.
To prevent future tragedies, Shahab Ali Shah announced that extensive SOPs (standard operation procedures) had been issued for tourists visiting the region.
He expressed compassion on behalf of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government and confirmed his commitment to supporting the deprived families of this difficult time.
