The risk of dengue outbreaks increases in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) after the rain. The situation has prompted Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to take notice and order all relevant departments to initiate urgent anti-endgue measures throughout the province.
According to the official sources, the Minister of Chief Secretariat has issued directives to all Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and Relevant Departments that instruct them to launch extensive anti-endgue campaigns on emergencies. The stagnant water, which is the result of recent rainfall, is reportedly creating a breeding ground for dengue-bearing mosquitoes.
The communicé emphasizes that public places, construction sites, markets, schools, government offices and drains must be cleared for standing water to limit the mosquito breeding.
The health department has also been instructed to take preventative events in hospitals to deal with potential dengue patients. This includes ensuring the availability of medicine, diagnostic equipment and other essential facilities.

The department is also tasked with establishing an integrated system for effective monitoring and timely reporting of Dengue cases throughout the province.
Local authorities have been ordered to carry out regular spraying in sensitive and high -risk areas to limit the outbreak of death.
In addition, the Information Department in collaboration with the health authorities and the district administrations will launch a large -scale consciousness campaign through printed, electronic and social media platforms. This campaign aims to educate the public about dengue prevention.
Citizens have been invited to take precautionary measures such as drainage of stagnant water around their homes and neighborhoods, cover water tanks and using mosquito nets, dismissive agents and protective clothing to reduce the risk of infection.
The minister has also called on mosques, schools and community leaders to actively participate in the education of the public against Dengue.
Cm Gandapur said: “Dengue -prevention is a collective responsibility. All departments are responsible for increasing public attention and implementing effective measures to combat this threat.”
He also instructed that all commissioners submit weekly reports on anti-endgue activities, hospital’s emergency preparedness and attention campaigns to ensure the effectiveness of the campaign and timely response.
