KP -Attaler touches fresh ed row

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly speaker Babar Saleem Swati has said that the oath administered by KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi to members of 25 reserved seats was constitutional and the MPAs will have to take fresh you today (August 25).

“A fresh oath, according to the Constitution and the law, will be wasted tomorrow (Monday, August 25) during the assembly session,” Swati told journalists on Sunday after a review of the recent rain and flooding in the provincial capital.

He said that administering oath to assembly members is the powers of the speaker, not the governor’s.

After much ADO, 25 opposition legislators were elected in reserved seats in the KP assembly on July 20 their oath – not in the provincial legislature whose meeting was postponed earlier in the day due to a lack of decision -making, but in the Governor House on Sunday evening.

These MPAs including 21 women and 4 minority members were scheduled to take oaths in a specially requested assembly session on July 20. Right after the start of the session, a reigning party member, Shair Ali Afridi, pointed out the lack of a cattle.

Only 25 members were present in the house, causing him to order bells to be called for two minutes. However, the required number of members were not met. Consequently, the speaker postponed the session until July 24 and stated that the Ed-Cermonia would take place in the next session.

Afterwards, the leader of the opposition dr. Ibadullah Khan a petition in Peshawar High Court (PHC), where he requested Chief Justice to nominate an appropriate person in accordance with Article 255 (2).

Meanwhile, the ECP also approached the PHC chief court and asked him to appoint a person to manage oath for the new MPa. KP Chief Justice Syed Muhammad Attique Shah later approved KP -Governor Faisal Karim Kundi to take Ed.

Later, Sunday evening, a heavy ringing ceremony was held in the Governor House in Peshawar, where Governor Kundi administered oath to the 25 newly elected members.

Meanwhile, the MPAs selected on reserved seats have decided not to re -enter the oath of assembly membership today. For this purpose, the opposition leader has called for a meeting with opposition parties in the assembly at. 12.

According to opposition sources, the 25 members had already diminished their oaths on July 20, so there is no need to repeat it. They said that even if the speaker asks for a fresh oath, no member will comply.
