‘No patriotic person could utter such words about the gallant officers and soldiers’
ISLAMABAD:
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s remarks about the security forces on Friday sparked a wave of criticism from the federal government and the provincial governor, who called them “inappropriate and inflammatory”.
In a strongly worded statement, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the chief minister’s comments were “factually incorrect” and an insult to the brave men and women who have laid down their lives for the country’s peace and security.
“No patriotic person could utter such words about the gallant officers and soldiers who have sacrificed everything for the nation,” he said.
Accusing the KP CM of trying to “please the eternal enemy” through his remarks, he added that the entire nation and the international community recognize the unparalleled sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces to restore peace and stability.
Separately, KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi also condemned the remarks.
Governor Kundi shared a video of the remarks on X, writing that he “strongly condemned rhetoric that undermines the honor and sacrifice of Pakistan’s armed forces.”
“The brave sons of our soil put their lives on the line to protect our province – questioning their intent only hurts morale and public safety,” Kundi said.
