Peshawar:
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur has filed a written petition in Peshawar High Court (PHC), which challenges the blockage of his passport and the included his name in Exit Control (ECL) and other surveillance lists.
The petition, which was filed through lawyer Bashir Wazir, names the Ministry of Interior, Director General of the FIA, Director General of Passport and Immigration, and others as respondents.
It claims that the Minister of Chief, who is the provincial CEO, often has to travel abroad for official and administrative affairs. However, his name was allegedly blacklisted illegally, his passport blocked, and his name placed on ECL and other lists and limited his movement.
According to the petition, Gandapur applied for renewal of his passport, but the authorities refused to process it. His lawyer claimed that no prior notice was issued until he placed his name on the lists, which corresponds to discriminatory treatment and violates constitutional rights.
The petition requests the court to refer the authorities to remove its name from ECL, preliminary checklist and the national checklist, restore his passport and allow him to go abroad for official tasks. The Minister’s Legal Team has also sought an early consultation with the case.
