Peshawar:
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur promised a study on Sunday after reports of civilian losses during Saturday’s anti-terrorist surgery in the mountainous Katlang region of the Marran District.
In a statement, the Minister of Chief emphasized that the investigation would investigate all aspects of establishing facts. He assured that the provincial government would take a clear stance on the matter when the investigation report was over.
According to an Express News report, the chief minister noted that previous terrorist operations in the same area had also resulted in eliminating high-profile terrorists, including Mohsin Baqar and Abbas. He assured his government’s full support for the victims’ families.
Earlier on Saturday, the KP government expressed regrets about the reported civilian losses in Marran and expanded its “deepest compassion” and expressed support for the affected families “in their grief.”
Security forces conducted an operation in the early hours of Saturday in the distant hilltop area in Katlang in Marran. The operation was based on credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists who used the location as a hiding place and transit point.
The KP government said the operation successfully neutralized several goals of high value, adding that “unfortunately subsequent reports confirmed the presence of non-border, including women and children, at the periphery of the target zone, resulting in tragic civilian losses”.
This, said it was a hugely painful development. “Any effort is made during such operations to avoid security damage. The complex terrain, the conscious tactics of militants to integrate into civilian populations, and the fog of war can sometimes lead to unintended consequences.”
The KP government expanded its deepest compassion for the affected families and said immediate measures were taken to investigate the circumstances of civil presence in the area. “Efforts are on foot to]expand medical help to the wounded and compensation for the victims’ families.
