Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) -has revealed a new online system for vehicle registration, tax payment and universal license plate issuance under the “Dastak” platform.
The system launched at an event held in Chief Minister’s House aims to simplify vehicle -related services and reduce the need for citizens to visit government offices, Express News reported.
KP Minister of Chief Ali Amin Khan Gandapur formally inaugurated the system, which allows citizens to carry out various services, such as vehicle registration and tax payments, from their home’s comfort.
The move is expected to improve transparency, reduce corruption and increase the effectiveness of public services.
The project had a pilot phase in September 2023, which saw the registration of 13,229 vehicles, issuing 71,654 vouchers and transfer of ownership for 6,437 vehicles.
The initiative generated over RS28 Crore in revenue and issued 13,738 universal license plates.
Gandapur praised the efforts of the point department for successfully implementing the system and emphasizing the positive impact of digitization on public services.
He also highlighted the economic benefits of the initiative and said the province had increased its income by 49% through the effective use of resources.
The system is expected to have a positive effect on preventing vehicle theft and abuse where citizens are able to perform all necessary tasks online.
The minister also announced plans to use technology to combat drug abuse and urged citizens to cooperate with the authorities in the fight against illegal drugs.
In his speech, Gandapur expressed his commitment to the province’s progress and said that KP will continue to push for development and justice, even if it means taking litigation on any forum.
