The Khyber -Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has expressed regret over civilian losses during a fight against terrorism against ban and expands its “deepest compassion for the affected families”, as it said, it stands in the moment of grief.

The government, which tells details of the operation in a statement on Saturday, said the security forces were conducting an operation in the early hours of March 29 in the distant hilltop area in Katlang in Marran.

It stated that the operation was based on credible intelligence regarding the presence of armed militants who used the location as a hiding place and transit point.

“Operation successfully neutralized several high-value goals related to ongoing militant activities in the region. Unfortunately, subsequently reported the presence of non-contrary, including women and children, at the periphery of the target zone, resulting in tragic civilian damage,”

This, said it was a hugely painful and regrettable development.

“Any effort is made during such operations to avoid security damage. The complex terrain, the conscious tactics of militants to integrate into civilian populations, and the fog of war can sometimes lead to unintended consequences,” added it.

The KP government expanded its deepest compassion to the affected families and said that immediate measures are being taken to investigate the circumstances of civil presence in the area.

“[Efforts are also underway to] Expand medical help to the wounded and to facilitate relief and compensation for the victims’ families.

“Security forces are required to maintain the highest standards of operational behavior and remain focused on eliminating threats while retaining civil security.

“Our people’s victims are not forgotten and we remain united in our decision on peace and security in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday officers and jaws of security forces appreciated for having performed an operation against “Khawarij” in Katlang and “foil their dishonest design” to spread extremism beyond a successful operation against terrorists in Kalat.
