Urges federal and provincial governments to urgently rebuild homes and support residents displaced by unrest
PESHAWAR:
Community and religious leaders from Central Kurram have called for the full deployment of army, border corps and police forces across the region to ensure peace and prevent it from being used for cross-border unrest instigated by neighboring Afghanistan.
In a press conference held at the Peshawar Press Club, Maulana Shahnawaz, a prominent Sunni cleric from Central Kurram, along with other local elders emphasized the urgent need to secure all areas of the district from militant activity and lawlessness.
“We demand that the federal and provincial governments take immediate action to restore normalcy in central Kurram,” Maulana Shahnawaz said. “The ongoing unrest has caused huge damage to lives, homes and businesses. Families who have lost loved ones and properties during the recent operations must be provided with comprehensive relief and rehabilitation packages.”
The leaders also highlighted the plight of displaced residents from regions affected by suspicious movements and insecurity. They called on the authorities to allow these individuals to return safely to their communities once conditions have stabilized.
A key issue raised during the conference was the issue of state aid registration. Many victims have been unable to access support due to incomplete records or missing village names in NADRA’s dual address system. “It is unfortunate that so many affected families remain deprived of help due to administrative hurdles,” said Maulana Shahnawaz. “Authorities must correct these records immediately to ensure that all eligible residents receive assistance.”
