The father of the former LSU receives Kyren Lacy broke his silence over his son’s death on Sunday when authorities revealed details of what happened before he died of suicide.
Kenny Lacy wrote a message to parents on his Facebook hours after it was revealed that his son had died in the Houston area.

“Young parents, start talking to your children at a very early age and make sure they are safe and comfortable to confuse you,” he wrote on the social media platform. “Don’t be cool with ‘I’m in order or I’m good’, when you know deep inside that something is not right. Mental health is real, and for the most part it is invisible, do not ignore the signs even if they may seem small.
“Our lives have changed forever and this will never be okay, but God needed my baby more than he was needed here. This must be the biggest pill that our families have had to swallow, but I know that the love and compassion in our families will get us through. This will never be easier, but we learn to live with it.”
He asked his followers to check their children’s mental health. It was a similar message that was shared across the sports world by several athletes, including LSU alums.
Texas authorities released more details about Kyren Lacy’s death later Sunday.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office said deputies received a call about a man, identified as Lacy, who argued with a family member when he shot a gun in the ground, according to Fox 26 Houston. Officials learned Lacy had fled the stage and launched a search for him.
Officials said deputies were trying to get a traffic stop on Lacy, but he led them on a car chase that went for miles. Lacy then crashed its vehicle in the spring, according to authorities.

Responsive deputies removed Lacy from the vehicle to take him in custody, but he was found with a “self -inflicted gunshot wound” and was declared dead on stage, the sheriff’s office says.

“Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene units conducted an investigation into the incident,” reads a statement via Fox 26 Houston. “Preliminary information indicates that Lacy shot itself during the pursuit and before the vehicle crashed. A handgun was recovered from the interior of the vehicle. A review of PCT 4 units Body camera and in a car -mounted video did not indicate that shots were shot after the pursuit ended.
“When Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide -Investigation is completed, it will be forwarded to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office Civil Rights Division for Review, as is the standard of any death that takes place during an attempted arrest.”
Lacy was 24.
The broad recipient, who trained in December and may have been a committee in the upcoming NFL draft, was under investigation in Louisiana in connection with a crash in December leaving a 78-year-old man dead, said officials in January.
He was accused of driving careless-fast and passing in a zone without passage-when the driver turned to avoid lacy and crashed into another vehicle.

He fled from the stage with the crash without calling assistance, said Louisiana State Police. An arrest warrant was obtained for lacy for negligent murder, crime that hit-and-run and ruthless operation of a vehicle.
A magnificent jury was allegedly set to hear evidence in the case on Monday.
