Rawalpindi:
Female health and sanitation patrol workers in Rawalpindi are in weapons against the “excessive workload under Ramazan”, which includes double shifts for polio and dengue prevention tasks, followed by additional tasks until 22:00 to prepare computerized microplans.
Many female workers have reported to grow domestic tensions due to their long -term absence from home from the morning late at night.
Some families have resorted to buying IFTAR items from the market as women are unable to prepare meals at home.
Frustrated at the situation, the workers staged a strong protest at the District Health Office. According to the protesting workers, the workload has become unbearable as Ramazan is nearing its end.
After completing Dengue surveillance and polioimmunization tasks, they are forced to manually prepare micro plans for the next day’s inspections, where they later ask computer operators to digit them. This process extends their working hours until 1 p.m.
Adding to their frustration is minor errors in reports met with immediate messages about the show reason. The women also complain that their compensation is lean compared to the violent 18-hour working days they are forced to endure.
