The Lahore administration has denied Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) permission to hold a demonstration on February 8 with reference to security concerns. The decision was made after considering the recommendations of the District Intelligence Committee.

The official notification issued on Thursday stated that PTI could not be granted permission to the collection due to security reasons.

The message also noted that several major events would take place in Lahore on February 8, including a cricket match, a cattle show and a speaker conference.

In addition, the administration referred to PTI’s previous actions as a significant factor in the decision, especially the events on May 9, which led to concern over the security of public gatherings.

Earlier today, the Lahore High Court had instructed the Lahore Vice Commissioner to make a decision on PTI’s request for permission to hold the rally in Minar-E-Pakistan at 1 p.m. 17.00.

PTI had approached the court on February 3rd to seek the approval of the rally, saying it was important to protest against the alleged violation of their mandate.

On January 29, Ptis Punjab Chief organizer Aaliya Hamza had announced that the party would hold a rally in Minar-E-Pakistan on February 8 to protest what they called an attack on PTI’s mandate.

The party submitted an application to the Deputy Commissioner’s office and requested official approval for the event in Iqbal Park.

Hamza emphasized that PTI would not accept any restrictions this time and claim that the rally would continue regardless of the administration’s attitude.
