Six buildings are in the last stages of achieving the green building status.
The concession awarded to the buildings that will not implement the policy after three years is transformed into fine.
The court was informed that the goal of the policy was to promote environmental responsible and energy -efficient building practice in Lahore. It was informed that the Punjab government was obliged to sustainable urban development through energy efficiency and green construction practice.
‘Green Building’ refers to structures designed, designed and operated to minimize the environmental impact through the effective use of resources and improved residents’ health and productivity.
The required implementation of LDA statutes regarding the improvement of the environment includes wooden plantation, roof terrace, solar carization, gray water treatment plants and rainwater harvesting.
The stated goal of the initiative is to encourage green building design and energy savings, provide financial incentive to promote the adoption of green practice and adapt to global standards and national sustainability goals.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) said Regional Committee on Food Convener Shahid Imran, while talking with a delegation of industrialists from South Punjab that the country is responsible for significant environmental and economic benefits from a nationwide shift against solar energy.
He emphasized that with over 300 sunny days a year, Pakistan has a huge potential to utilize solar energy on a large scale.
“Transition to solar energy will significantly reduce our dependence on expensive imported fossil fuels, thereby facilitating the burden of national tax and helping to narrow the trade deficit,” he said. “In addition, it offers a sustainable solution for Pakistan’s renewable energy shortage, ensuring uninterrupted power supply for households, businesses and industries.”
Shahid Imran noted that a robust solar energy strategy can also lift rural areas by enabling off-grid solutions, supporting agriculture and improving living standards. “With the right political framework, economic incentives and public-private partnerships, Pakistan can transform his energy sector and move towards a more resilient, inclusive and sustainable economy. The time to fully embrace solar energy is now for our people’s prosperity and the preservation of our planet,” he added.
The head of the delegation, Ziaur Rehman, said that Solar Energy provides a clean, sustained alternative to conventional power sources.
“It significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions, helps to fight climate change and improve air quality, thereby lowering health -related costs caused by pollution,” he said.
He also noted that the growing solar energy sector has the potential to create thousands of green jobs, from manufacturing and installation to maintenance and research.
