- A couple of Lenovo’s concept products are leaked on x
- One is a laptop with a screen that rotates in portrait mode
- The other is a self -adjusting laptop stand that apparently uses AI to place the laptop for optimal ergonomics
Lenovo is apparently set to display a new concept laptop on the IFA show next week, which contains a screen that can be turned to a portrait position along with an innovative laptop.
Lenovo has a habit of showing concept units at trade shows, some of which are precursors for shipping products – a la the thinkbook plus gen 6 W/ rollable display – while others will never see the light of day. On next week’s IFA/Innovation Week this concept will be a … pic.twitter.com/pmijdowghgAugust 28, 2025
As Verge reports, according to the famous leaks Evan Blass, the laptop is known as ‘Project Pivo’ (which is an internal code name) according to a post on X.
As you can see, the screen rotates independently of the lid so you can wipe it around 90 degrees, so it’s vertical in portrait mode. Presumably there is some smooth mechanism to facilitate this movement, but of course we do not get any clues to what; Just a picture and basic explanation of the concept.
Analysis: An unlikely duo – or a perfect combination?
I really like the idea of the laptop this is AI fine-tuning the ergonomics of your laptop in real time.
However, the concept is one thing, the execution completely another. And there is clearly the possibility of a self-adjusting notebook stand to get things wrong and get extremely annoying.
The rotating screen -bearable computer also looks pretty nice, but this is rather a niche product. How many people really need to turn their screen round into a portrait orientation? Not so many, but of course it can be useful for some people (coders, maybe writers or graphic designers maybe).
What worries me about these concepts that introduce smart mechanisms is that the moving parts represent much more potential for things that go wrong with your notebook. And says if your screen ends up stuck at a 65-degree angle midway between portrait and landscape; It’s not going to be fun. Still, maybe AI -Bearing Stand will be able to arrange all the Wonky ergonomics for you – maybe it’s Lenovo’s Grand Master here?
In all the seriousness, as Blass points out, a lot of portable concepts have been put around and never realized, and that may well be the case with these ideas. Some of them do the clip, however, just like Thinkbook laptop with a roll of screen that was released.
Hopefully we get a better idea of how these two fresh innovations may be working on IFA next week, where Techradar will be present, giving you all the most important developments – rotating laptops included.
