Indiana Fever -star Lexie Hull and Seattle Storm tip Gabby Williams collided when the two WNBA teams met on Tuesday.

In the days since, Hull has developed a few black eyes.

Fever coach Stephanie White said the brands underlined Hull’s gravel.

“Every time I see her, I’m like,” Oh, poor Lexie, “White said Friday.” But you know, I think it really marks Lexie’s toughness when you look at her and you see the two black eyes. I mean, she’s hard as nails, you know.

“She all plays out of any possession, all the time, and sometimes the result is two black eyes, and that’s why I smile every time I see her. But it’s definitely a picture-perfect point of view on the toughness she brings.”

In the first quarter of Tuesday’s game, Hull and Williams both fell on the floor of visible pain moments after beating heads. Trainer tended to the athletes, both of whom were able to eventually rise and go without help. Williams checked back in the game later in the opening quarter.

Hull went back to the fever’s bench after spending some time in the dressing room. Hull seemed to have a knot on her forehead when she first reintroduced the game.

She finished the game with five points and nine rebounds in 23 minutes. The fever drove to a victory of 95-75.

While the swelling eventually fell, Hull was left with accounts under her eyes. Hull said she was quickly feeling well with the fact that the condition would be something she wanted to do with at the moment.

“I put a patch (on the knot), slept with it. The next day I woke up and I was like, ‘ok, the bulge is almost gone, but now I have two black eyes,’ so it was tragic,” Hull said. “But I mean it’s at this point that unfortunately I can’t hide it. People know it, so just roll with it.”

Hull said that teachers made their due diligence to make sure she did not maintain a face break or any other serious injury. She confirmed that she had “been fully checked out” before checking back in Tuesday’s games.

“Honestly, when it happened, I was relieved because I could feel myself as if I were good at going as if I felt completely with it,” Hull said. “They performed all the tests they needed, and put ice on it right away, try to keep the swelling down, but I felt good to know that it might have been much worse. And I’m grateful that people online who would check on me, and make sure I’m doing well, but I’m ok, I’ve been fully checked out.”

After Tuesday’s 20-point victory over the storm, that fever held on a win with a point over Los Angeles Sparks Friday. Next, the Golden State Valkyries is scheduled to host Indiana on Sunday.
