ISLAMABAD:
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken a stern look at the PML-N’s Punjab government, which has failed to complete the process needed to hold local government (LG) elections in the country’s most populous province despite assurances.
According to sources, the poll watchdog has summoned the chief secretary and the LG secretary to meet in person on January 22
The provincial government has still not provided the ECP with demarcation rules and notices from union councils (UCs). The ECP stated that additional measures will be taken to ensure the conduct of the election.
