LHC cancels IMRAN’s bail hearings again

Lahore:

The Lahore High Court has canceled the causal list containing petitions for bail after petition from PTI’s founding chairman, Imran Khan, in eight cases in connection with the 9 May riots due to the inaccessibility of justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi.

Justice Rizvi was heading for the division bench and heard the bail. The other member of the bench is Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh.

It is relevant to mention that the LHC division bench had previously postponed the hearing of Imran Khan’s bail petitions to April 23, after the case register was not produced before the court.

Imran had filed petitions after the share of eight different cases in connection with the May 9 riots that followed his arrest.

The former prime minister approached the LHC and questioned what he called illegal and politically motivated cases.

He claimed he had deliberately been implicated in these “counterfeit and false” cases despite the fact that he did not engage anyone.

He drew the court’s attention to key points and claimed that the prosecution had offered divergent attitudes regarding the date, time and place of the alleged monkey and other charges, making these cases of “further investigation”.
