Lahore/ Islamabad:
Lahore High Court has sought answers from the PTA and the Punjab government on petitions filed by PUJ and others who challenge the prevention of electronic crimes (amendments) Law 2025.
During the case, Justice Farooq Haider expressed dissatisfaction with the non-submission of answers from the Punjab government and PTA. However, the federal government had already submitted its answer.
PTA’s lawyer requested additional time to file an answer. Requesting a request warned Justice Haider that if PTA fails to submit its reply at the next hearing, litigation will be made.
Meanwhile, Islamabad issued the High Court (IHC) messages to the respondents about another identical petition against the law on the prevention of electronic crime change 2025 (PECA 2025). The court also called the law lawyer in Pakistan for help in the case at the next hearing.
Justice Inaam Ameen Minhas from IHC heard the petition against the PECA change law filed through lawyer Adil Aziz Qazi. The court noted that there are other similar petitions pending court.
The court issued messages to the parties and postponed the hearing until April 17. The other has appointed ministries of information, law and justice and others to respondents in the case. It can be mentioned that the identical petitions from PFUJ, Islamabad High Court Journalist’s Association and others against the PECA change law also belong to High Court. (More input from app)
