Lahore High Court (LHC) has rejected Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf’s (PTI) petition seeking permission for a public rally in Minar-E-Pakistan on March 22.
Justice Farooq Haids the President’s consultation and maintained the Objective of the Justice Secretary and said that PTI should first go to the government’s complaint committee before sought legal intervention.
The court gave up that if the committee did not decide to decide, PTI could then submit a petition.
PTI leader Akmal Khan Bari had filed the petition and argued that the party had formally requested permission from the authorities but did not receive any answer.
PTI’s lawyer claimed that involving the compensation committee would be useless.
However, the LHC maintained its position on following appropriate legal procedures before the case is heard in court.
The petition claimed that the party wishes to hold a demonstration in accordance with the law and the constitution, but has been denied a peaceful collection, Express News reported.
PTI has requested the court to allow them to hold the rally in Minar Pakistan and secure their right to peaceful assembly.
In the petition, the party emphasized that despite following all legal procedures, their request for a peaceful rally was denied and they seek the intervention of the court to give them permission for the planned event.
Earlier, the District Administration of Lahore PTI refused to hold a demonstration in Minar-E-Pakistan on February 8th.
PTI had announced a public rally on February 8, the first anniversary of the last parliamentary elections, which the party describes as very rigged last week in January.
