Lahore:
Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday ordered the release of six members of a family, including women and children who had been found illegally enclosed by a landlord in Mandi Bahauddin district.
Justice Tariq Mahmood Bajwa issued the order while hearing a Habea’s Corpus arrangement filed by Muhammad Qasim, resident of Mandi Bahauddin, who claimed his relatives were illegally detained.
A court-appointed bailiff presented the rescued individuals-Muhammad Saleem and his family members-for the court.
The bailiff reported that there, appearing on the court’s directives and accompanied by the local police, a raid was carried out in the outhouse of Muhammad Akram, a landlord of the Jokalian Village, Tehsil Phalia.
According to the bailiff, Saleem was found tied in chains while his wife and children were locked inside a room. All six were rescued during surgery.
