The Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought responses from the federal and Punjab governments and the Punjab IG on a petition challenging the military detention, military trials and court martial of Hassaan Niazi.
A two-judge bench comprising Justice Shehram Sarwar Chaudhry and Justice Sardar Ali Akbar Dogar was hearing a petition filed by Hassaan.
During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer argued that after Hassaan’s arrest in connection with the case on May 9, he was not produced before a civil court. Instead, the Sarwar Road police handed him over to military custody without any legal warrant.
