LHC seeks arguments about incompatibility

Lahore:

Lahore High Court (LHC) applied for arguments on Tuesday before June 13 on a plea requesting a disqualification of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as a member of the National Assembly (MNA) under Article 62 of the Constitution, read with section 203 (3) of the Election Act, 2017.

Justice Khalid Ishaq heard the petition filed by Ashba Kamran, who called on the right to direct the National Assembly’s speeches Ayaz Sadiq to send a reference to the Election Commission in Pakistan (ECP) to Bilawal’s disqualification of alleged double members in two separate political parties, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) (PPP).

The petitioner claimed that the ECP, as the constitutional watchdog for the election process, had not enforced section 203 (1).

She claimed that Bilawal has continuously held double positions, as chairman of PPP and at the same time as an elected MNA from PPPP, both in 2018 and 2024 parliamentary elections.
