Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani, Deputy Chief of Darul Uloom Haqqania and son of the slain religious leader Maulana Samiul Haq, was killed in a suicide bombing in the Akora Khattak area in the Nowshera District in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Province Friday.
He was born on May 26, 1968 in Akora Khattak and received his religious education in Darul Uloom Haqqania.
From 2002 to 2007, Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani served as a member of the National Assembly under MMA (Muttahida Majlis-E-Amal) ticket.
Following the murder of his father, Maulana Samiul Haq, in 2018, he became leader of Jamiat Disadvantaged by-Islam-Sami (Jui-S) and the Deputy General of Darul Uloom Haqqania.
Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani’s fatherly uncle, Maulana Anwar-Ul-Haq Haqqani, is the leader of Darul Uloom Haqqania.
His grandfather, Maulana Abdul Haq Haqqani, was also a member of the National Assembly and active in practical politics.
His father, Maulana Samiul Haq, was a member of the Senate and played a significant role in the formation of new religious alliances.
Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani contributed to the formation of United Majlis-E-Amal, Alliance of Religious Parties.
In 2001, after the US invasion of Afghanistan, he founded Defense Afghanistan Council, which later developed into MMA, a political alliance of religious parties.
Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani was chosen as an MNA from Nowshera in 2002 and represented his constituency until 2007.
