LT GEN NIGAR JOHAR appointed RCCI ambassador for women’s empowerment

LT GEN (RETD) NIGAR JOHAR KAN has been appointed fire ambassador for women’s empowerment and related initiatives from Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI).

The message came under an event entitled she is leading – a tribute to women held in RCCIS Chamber House on Monday. Nigar Johar, the first and only woman in Pakistan who obtained rank as a three-star general, served as a main guest.

When he spoke at the ceremony, RCCI President Usman Shakat Joukat Joars praised career as a defined by courage and barrier-breaking results. “She stands as a beacon for hope and aspiration,” said Usman Shaukat.

Group leader Sohail Altaf confirmed RCCI’s support for inclusive development and called events as if she is leading a way of recognizing women’s role in national progress.

In his main address, Nigar Johar RCCI’s proactive attitude to women’s inclusion pays off. “Creating space for women to lead, grow and shape the future is important,” she said.

She also expressed support for RCCI’s planned solidarity migration for Palestine, which will be held with the participation of the Palestinian ambassador.

Born in Swabi, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and Nigar Johar joined Army Medical College in 1981 and educated in 1985. She later got up to become Colonel Commander for Army Medical Corps, making history as the Pakistani army’s highest ranked female officer.
