Lucy Liu has opened up about a terrifying health experience she went through years ago, and shares how a medical error changed the way she views her health today.
The actress said that in the early 2000s she found a lump in her breast and went to the doctor.
At the time, she didn’t think much of it, but things quickly got scary.
However, she said the doctor felt the lump and told her it was cancer without doing proper follow-up tests like an ultrasound or mammogram.
Because of that, an operation was quickly arranged to remove it. Later, Lucy found out that the lump was not cancer at all.
The star went on to say that the moment taught her the importance of speaking up for herself, as she also admitted that she didn’t ask for a second opinion, even though a friend suggested it, because she trusted the first doctor.
Looking back now, she says she doesn’t live with regrets, but sees it as a lesson to make better choices in the future.
The The red one star wants others, especially women, to feel comfortable asking questions and getting properly checked.
Lucy now works with cancer awareness campaigns and says early detection really can save lives.
